#5: Fantastic Four #18

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of March 20, 2024

I haven’t felt like more of a broken record when reviewing than I have on Fantastic Four, but dammit, this series is truly special. The latest issue gives us new tidbits on Franklin as the series continues to impressively give the entire family focus while also introducing a big science problem resolved via clever writing.

#4: Wonder Woman #7

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of March 20, 2024

Wonder Woman #7 is a delight in a character showcase that reminds us Wonder Woman is as commanding and powerful at fighting a villain as she is present shopping. The depiction of Superman only adds to the greatness of Wonder Woman, and it’s fun to see the two interact as longtime friends. Wonder Woman #7 will be one of the happiest sights you’ll see all week.

#3: Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #25

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of March 20, 2024

All together, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #25 acts as a teaser to two future stories and sticks the landing as it uses all of its creative resources to tell two fun stories that function as teasers for the future of the book and their cast of characters. Mark Waid, Dan Mora, Steve Pugh, Andriano Lucas, and Tamra Bonvillain all share the same goal with this series to make good comics and they all succeed at just that.

#2: Resurrection of Magneto #3

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of March 20, 2024

The last epic hurdle between Storm and Magneto and the land of the living is at hand in Resurrection of Magneto #3. The Shadow King and his legion of shadows have been defeated, but the definitive story that either character has had in years still has more in store next issue. Her name means Beauty. He is Power. Men call them Storm and Magneto.

#1: John Constantine, Hellblazer: Dead in America #3

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of March 20, 2024

This issue continues the proud Vertigo tradition of both forwarding the main story in interesting ways (particularly in regards to Swamp Thing reclaiming his intelligence), but also acts as a new installment in an anthology series. This series is just as much about how the American Dream has withered on the vine as it is about John Constantine’s descent into decomposition. However, there are still reasons to keep on trying for a better outcome.
