Todd McFarlane took to X today to reveal an update on a new Spawn movie, which appears to be a future Blumhouse film. More specifically, King Spawn is the project in the works.
Details on the next Spawn movie have been scarce for some time, with the splashiest news coming in 2022 when it was revealed Jaimee Fox was attached to play Spawn. A year prior there was news of a Sam and Twitch show. Needless to say, a new Spawn project has been teased for some time but nothing has come of it.
The news of Blumhouse’s involvement surely makes a new movie highly likely. That’s in part due to Blumhouse having lots of cash to throw at projects thanks to their huge success in horror, but also the news of the writers attached to this new project.
Writers include Matt Mixon, Malcolm Spellman, and Scott Silver. Spellman is one of the writers of Captain America: Brave New World, which suggests this film will have some superhero chops while Silver co-wrote Joker.
King Spawn is a recent series launched as part of McFarlane’s push to make a Spawn universe released in 2021. That story leans heavily into horror, with an elementary school blowing up and a hardboiled detective story ensuing.
Could this film be based on that series, or maybe it’s something different entirely? Either way, are you excited for a new Spawn movie? Let us know in the comments.
