We have a good batch of options for our Channel Surfing TV picks of the week. A father is on a mission to recover his daughter no matter the cost in the second season of The Old Man. A simple nerf-herder must pick up the pieces and set them right in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. Then, find out who takes home the biggest prizes in television during the 76th annual Prime Time Emmy Awards.
Devastating Trouble
In the first season of The Old Man, Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) and Harold Harper (John Lithgow) were on opposite sides as the latter chased the former in a suspenseful game of cat and mouse. As the series returns, the pair find themselves working together for a change.
Emily Chase, is kidnapped while she is in Afghanistan so her father and her mentor team up to rescue her. I’d hate to be the guys that make Dan angry because he’s now on the warpath. Meanwhile, his associate, Zoe McDonald (Amy Brenneman), finds herself going deeper into his dark world.
The second season of The Old Man premieres Thursday, September 12, on FX.
All Mixed Up
In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, an ordinary nerf-herder named Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo) discovers a powerful artifact within an ancient hidden Jedi temple. Soon, the building blocks of the galaxy become mixed up creating a new and twisted world where the good guys become the bad guys and vice versa. After all the fan theories, I hope you’re prepared to finally meet Sith Jar Jar Binks. It’s up to Sig to become the hero he was destined to be and put all the pieces to their rightful place.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy arrives Friday, September 13, on Disney+.
Television’s Biggest Night
It’s been a great year in television, and now it’s time to honor the best shows and talent. The Prime Time Creative Arts Emmy Awards were a nice appetizer, but soon we’ll have the main event.
Father and son duo of Eugene and Dan Levy will serve as hosts as we find out who will walk away with the prestigious award. Shōgun and The Bear are the top two series in number of nominations. Will they sweep their respective categories or have the biggest haul of the evening? Which actors will be recognized for their performances. We’ll have to wait and see.
The 76th annual Prime Time Emmy Awards air Sunday, September 15, on ABC.
