Our Channel Surfing TV picks this week all have a mysterious aura. L.R. Wright’s literary work comes off the page and onto your screen in Murder in a Small Town. A detective and a nun investigate heinous crimes in Grotesquerie. Then, get down to the bottom of medical crises in Doctor Odyssey.
The Dark Secrets Below
In Murder in a Small Town, a big metropolitan detective named Karl Alberg moves to a quiet coastal town hoping to escape the stresses of the city. Unfortunately, crime doesn’t stop even out there and he finds himself inundated with murders. The more he investigates, the more he believes his new home isn’t as idyllic as he once thought.
The show is adapted from L.R. Wright’s Karl Alberg mystery novel series. It comes from Executive Producer/Head Writer Ian Weir and Sepia Films. Rossif Sutherland stars as Alberg alongside Kristin Kreuk, James Cromwell, Stana Katic, Mya Lowe, Savonna Spracklin, Aaron Douglas, and Fritzy-Klevans Destine.
Murder in a Small Town premieres Tuesday, September 24, on Fox.
A World Succumbing to Evil
Ryan Murphy is no stranger to the twisted. He’s been responsible for such series as Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story, Scream Queens, and Ratched. One of his latest ventures is sure to push the envelope.
Grotesquerie also finds a small community affected by a series of heinous crimes. A desperate Detective Lois Tryon has no leads so she turns to a nun who is also a journalist, for help. As they try to unravel the mystery, they seem to have more questions than answers.
The series premiere of Grotesquerie airs Wednesday, September 25, on FX.
