NYCC 2024: ‘Creature Commandos’ premieres new trailer at NYCC

Much of the star-studded cast joined series showrunner James Gunn on stage Saturday afternoon.

Much of the star-studded cast of the upcoming DC animated series Creature Commandos joined series showrunner James Gunn on stage Saturday afternoon for a panel at New York Comic Con.

Cast members David Harbour, Sean Gunn, Alan Tudyk, Zoë Chao, Frank Grillo, Steve Agee, and Maria Balakova were on hand to discuss their roles.

During the event, James Gunn expressed that this will be part of a connected universe with the DC Studios projects yet to come but that “It’s its very own thing.” He wanted to allow each piece of his DCU to carry its own flavor.

That flavor in Creature Commandos includes more adult sex and violence. “Maria and I had a very steamy, X-rated kind of scene,” Grillo said. Or at least a hard R, according to Grillo. James Gunn joked that he intended to release the behind the scenes video of Grillo in the recording both passionately kissing his hand after the scene in Episode 2 airs.

James Gunn also premiered the latest trailer to the show to the New York Comic Con audience.
