To mark the release of the trade paperback edition of their acclaimed comic series The Writer, Josh Gad and creators Ben and Max Berkowitz (The Berkowitz Brothers) are launching a special thank-you to fans: The Golden Ticket Giveaway.
In a playful nod to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, 15 collectible Golden Tickets have been randomly hidden inside copies of the trade paperback, distributed across 10 comic shops across North America.
These Golden Tickets are more than prizes—they’re limited collector’s items. Fans lucky enough to discover one will receive an exclusive, hand-printed t-shirt designed by cult artist Zach Merrill of Action Tees. The shirt’s artwork is based on the stunning cover illustrations by comics legends Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and Jeremy Haun (Berserker), reimagined through Merrill’s distinctive lens. Each shirt will also be packaged in a custom box featuring original packaging design by Merrill, making it a true piece of The Writer lore.
The Writer paperback hits comic shops and bookstores this week. Fans are encouraged to check their local stores starting this weekend, grab a copy, and see if they’ve found a Golden Ticket.
