#5: Bug Wars #3

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of April 23, 2025

Overall, Bug Wars #3 passes the “limited series test” with flying colors. It’s remained entertaining and engaging, even at the halfway point, and if the creative team has its way there’ll be much more on the horizon. And I’m defintinely looking forward to more of this world.

#4: Predator vs. Spider-Man #1

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of April 23, 2025

Predator vs. Spider-Man #1 is a blood-drenched mystery with teeth, setting the stage for an unforgettable showdown. A dream crossover that lives up to the nightmare, Percy and Ferreira deliver a suspenseful, slow-burn opener that respects both franchises while raising the stakes with gruesome flair. If this issue is any indication, the eventual clash will be nothing short of epic.

#3: Amazing Spider-Man #2

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of April 23, 2025

Amazing Spider-Man #2 continues Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz’s bold new direction with a trippy, emotionally-charged story that fuses psychological turmoil with visual flair. It’s a Spider-Man comic that challenges perception and plays with time and trauma in meaningful ways. There’s visual inventiveness mixed in with plenty of mystery.

#1: Absolute Martian Manhunter #2

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of April 23, 2025

There’s nothing else like this coming from the Big Two. Camp and Rodriguez seem to have asked themselves not simply how to tell a great story, but how to move the medium forward. This metamodern narrative engages with the way we as a reader engage with the world, and is distinctly in conversation with us. Here is where we come to find the antidote to a brain rotter; here to the Martian Mind****er.
