Scott Snyder reveals new look at Bane and ‘Absolute Batman’ vol. 2 title

Scott Snyder reveals ‘Absolute Batman’ second story arc title and possible art revealing a new take on Bane.

In his newsletter today, Scott Snyder revealed new details around Bane and the next story arc in Absolute Batman. Outside of new information shared in our interview on the AIPT Comics podcast, we’ve learned Snyder and Dragotta are messing with Bane’s history, with Absolute Batman #9 revealing more of Ark M, and new characters getting introduced in the next story arc as well.

The second story arc is titled “Abomination.” Why it’s called that is likely due to a big clue Snyder revealed in the title page, which appears to be a mass of muscle depicted in a very grotesque way.

Check that out below.

It’s hard to make out what exactly we’re looking at, but one might guess Bane’s muscles in Absolute Batman are so out of control that he’s basically a massive mess of muscle and flesh! Is that Bane’s mask on the right side?

As Snyder said in the interview, “Bane is almost like the embodiment of war,” and that “He’s capable of all these terrible things. And Alfred knows — Bruce has no idea what he’s walking into.” Snyder also said, “Bane is a total reflection of Bruce…a nightmarish version.” I suppose you could argue Batman is larger and more muscular than ever, so why wouldn’t Bane be even bigger?

Absolute Batman #8 is out today, wrapping up the Mr. Freeze story, for now.
