Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five, where we shout out the best comics of the week! This week includes a wild crossover, multiversal mayhem, and more. Let’s get to the books!
Best comics of the week: June 5, 2025
#5: Jumpscare #4
Even though this is the last issue of the miniseries, it has an open ending, teasingly setting up future storylines. I hope we get more miniseries (maybe even a regular series?) with Jumpscare. The book’s mix of grindhouse horror and superhero action makes it one of the more unique and delightful books on the stands.

#4: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto #4
Overall, this is a really fun issue that reminds readers how fun comics can be. This isn’t a book about some super complex issue, nor is it meant to be anything game-changing, and that’s perfectly OK – in fact, it’s a big reason why the book thrives. The creative team involved completely understands the core concepts of these characters and their appreciation for these worlds is evident from the first page all the way to the last.

#3: Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma #3
‘Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma’ #3 shows the downside of immortality
Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma #3 is moving in all the right ways, as it explores why someone wouldn’t want to live forever. It’s been a while since one of DC’s Black Label books has impacted me, but this is a comic no one – old or new, superhero lover or indie champion – will want to keep off their pull lists.

#2: Ultimate Wolverine #6
‘Ultimate Wolverine’ #6 digs deep into Logan’s state of mind
Ultimate Wolverine #6 is a soulful standalone story, digging deep into Wolverine’s core to break a cycle of bloodshed and violence. It also marks a turning point in the series, which only makes me more excited for future issues. Wolverine may have broken free of his chains, but Condon and Lins have me hooked for what’s coming next.

#1: JSA #8
JSA #8 is Lemire’s strongest issue yet. It’s also a perfect starting point for new and casual readers who want to pick up a standalone story at the comic shop on Wednesday. In just one issue, Lemire and Guidry deliver an action-packed Golden Age tale with modern sensibilities, and sets a perfect tone for the series as a whole.
