One of Spider-Man’s most legendary writers is swinging back into action this fall. J. Michael Straczynski, the acclaimed mind behind one of the most beloved runs in Amazing Spider-Man history, is back for Amazing Spider-Man: Torn—a brand-new five-issue limited series launching this October.
Straczynski is teaming up with fan-favorite artist Pere Pérez (TVA, Venom War: Carnage) to tell a story that takes readers back to Peter Parker’s college days at Empire State University. Expect appearances from Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, MJ, and Flash Thompson—plus classic villains and an all-new threat that could shake the Marvel Universe to its core.
While longtime fans have been hoping for JMS to return to Spidey for years, Torn offers something fresh: a gripping new chapter that dives deep into an unexplored part of Peter’s past—one that could have major implications for the present.
“JMS wrote some of my all-time favorite Spidey issues,” said Spider-Man editor Nick Lowe. “When he said he wanted to come back, I was already leaping at the opportunity—and twisting my ankle in the process! And teaming him with Pere Pérez, one of comics’ most inventive artists? We’re incredibly lucky.”
Pérez added, “As a huge fan of Spider-Man and JMS, working on this book has been a dream. The action scenes are a blast to draw, but it’s the emotional moments and character dialogue that are surprising me the most. This book has everything: heart, excitement—and yes, a new villain!”
Don’t miss the debut of Amazing Spider-Man: Torn on October 8, 2025. The series will feature a stunning main cover by Adam Hughes. Preorder now at your local comic shop!
