Coming this September, No Man’s Land is a new four-issue thriller miniseries from writer/artist Szymon Kudrański, the creator behind Something Epic and Blood Commandment. Published under his One Man Art imprint at Image Comics, the series takes readers to the remote and treacherous Diomede Islands, where history, mystery, and geopolitics collide.
Each winter, an ice bridge forms between the U.S. and Russia at the Diomedes—a phenomenon known as the Ice Curtain. In 1963, a young woman’s body is found lying dead on this frozen, disputed territory. With tensions between the U.S. and USSR already stretched thin, an FBI agent and a KGB operative are forced into a fragile alliance to solve the murder before the ice melts… and sparks a global catastrophe.
Kudrański was inspired by real-life disappearances and unsolved Cold War mysteries tied to the islands. “The Diomede Islands are the only place on Earth where a 21-hour time difference exists across an ice bridge,” he explains. “It’s a place without clear jurisdiction, sitting right between two of the world’s most powerful nations. That kind of ambiguity practically demands a story.”
Perfect for fans of True Detective, Whiteout, and Insomnia, No Man’s Land blends psychological drama, political intrigue, and chilling atmosphere in equal measure.
No Man’s Land #1 hits comic book shops September 17 with multiple covers by Kudrański, including homages to Se7en, The Hunt for Red October, and Whiteout, plus a noir variant and a blank sketch cover. A variant co-created with Brian Michael Bendis is also available.
The issue will also be available digitally via Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, and other platforms.
