Dynamite Entertainment, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, is releasing a new graphic novel adaptation of The Wizard of Oz this September, with acclaimed artist Soo Lee (ThunderCats: Cheetara, Maleficent) handling writing, art, and cover duties.
Marking 85 years since the original 1939 film’s debut, this all-ages graphic novel invites readers to follow Dorothy, Toto, and their iconic companions down the Yellow Brick Road in a faithful yet artistically fresh take on the timeless story. Working from the original screenplay and granted access to the film’s archives, Lee expands beloved scenes and adds emotional depth to the characters’ journey.
“I’m not reinventing the wheel,” Lee says, “but I’m adding my interpretation to the history of this legendary story.” With 128 full-color pages, this adaptation promises a heartfelt and visually rich return to Oz for fans old and new.
