James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ hit series The Department of Truth is marking its five-year milestone with a special oversized Issue #0, arriving this September from Image Comics in partnership with Tiny Onion. The Eisner-nominated thriller returns with a bold new direction—and a dangerous new team.
The upcoming issue signals a turning point for the shadowy agency at the heart of the series. Lee Harvey Oswald is back, leading a ruthless new group determined to restore the Department’s power, even if it means rewriting the rules.
In addition to the main story, the issue features the launch of a three-part backup from superstar creators Scott Snyder (Absolute Batman) and Joshua Hixson (The Deviant), diving into the secret history of Elvis Presley—and how the Department of Truth played a role in what really happened to the King of Rock n’ Roll.
“Five years in comics is a huge deal,” said Tynion. “So we wanted to go big—with new characters shaking things up, major twists for our core cast, and for the first time ever, a guest creative team telling a wild new story. Scott and Josh are going to blow readers’ minds with what they’ve uncovered about Elvis.”
The Department of Truth #0 arrives in comic shops on September 10, 2025, with a lineup of stunning variant covers from Martin Simmonds, Joshua Hixson, Tom Muller, Tyler Boss (die-cut), and more.
Digital editions will also be available via Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, and other platforms.
