Get ready for blood, beasts, and brutal battles—Viking Moon is coming this September from Image Comics. Eisner Award-winning writer Joe Pruett (Voices In My Head, Cable) joins forces with acclaimed artist Marcelo Frusin (Hellblazer, Loveless) for a five-issue horror miniseries that blends Norse mythology with supernatural terror.
Set in the year 1003, Viking Moon kicks off with Leif Erikson’s fabled expedition to North America, where his settlement in Vineland (modern-day Newfoundland) meets an unspeakable fate. Now, two decades later, a new group of Vikings led by the fierce warrior Ulf returns—only to face the same chilling threat: werewolves. What begins as a quest to reclaim a lost land turns into a nightmare of survival against creatures that walk the line between man and monster.
“This is a story I’ve been dying to tell, but I knew it needed the right artist—and I found that in Marcelo,” said Pruett. “He’s doing the best work of his career here. Think The Howling meets Vikings by way of M. Night Shyamalan. It’s a wild ride full of twists, scares, and blood-soaked action.”
Frusin was immediately hooked: “As soon as Joe pitched me Viking Moon, I was in. Vikings versus werewolves—what more could you want? The world we’re building is visually rich and terrifying, and Joe’s scripts keep me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait for readers to dive in.”
Viking Moon #1 (Lunar Code 0725IM292) hits comic shops on Wednesday, September 17, and will also be available digitally through Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, and more.
