Our latest Channel Surfing TV picks include an action comedy and a pair of adaptations. Two world leaders must team up to save the world in Heads of State. Prepare for more yokai and alien fighting in a new season of Dan Da Dan. Then, Dream of the Endless tries to make up for his past misdeeds in The Sandman.
From Rivals to Partners
Heads of State is a film from the director of Nobody. It stars Idris Elba and John Cent as the Prime Minister of the UK and the President of the U.S.A. respectively alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Jack Quaid.
Both leaders have an antagonistic relationship with the other, which threatens the historical bond between their countries. However, when they become the target of a violent attack, they must work together in order to prevent a global conspiracy.
Heads of State releases Wednesday, July 2, on Prime Video.
Beware of the Evil Eye
Dan Da Dan is an anime adaptation of the popular manga of the same name from Yukinobu Tatsu. It follows the adventures of high school classmates Momo and Okarun, who have different views on aliens and the supernatural. Much to their chagrin, they discover that both really exist.
The second season will adapt at least the Cursed House and Evil Eye arcs from the source material. If you watched the film Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, then you’re already ahead of the game. You can expect more extra terrestrial and occult action while Momo and Okarun grow closer.
The second season of Dan Da Dan premieres Thursday, July 3, on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Hulu.
The End of the World
When we last left The Sandman, Dream eliminated threats from a rogue nightmare that escaped his domain to a dream vortex that threatened our universe. He also managed to save his ex-wife from imprisonment.
So what’s next for our protagonist? In the second season, he begins rebuilding his kingdom. As he restores his palace, he decides to leave the past behind and build for the future. In doing so, he must make amends for everything he’s done, but his journey to redemption might cause him to lose everything he has.
Stream The Sandman season two part one beginning Thursday, July 3, on Netflix.
