To celebrate 20 years since Planet Hulk first hit shelves, Marvel is reuniting the original creative team—writer Greg Pak and artist Carlo Pagulayan, for Return to Planet Hulk, a brand-new story set during the events of the original epic.
First published in 2005, Planet Hulk tells the tale of the Green Goliath crash-landing on the alien world of Sakaar, where he rose from gladiator to king. Widely regarded as one of Hulk’s greatest storylines, it has had a lasting impact on Marvel lore and inspired adaptations across other media. Now, readers can revisit that brutal, emotional saga with a fresh adventure that dives back into its mythic heart.
Expect plenty of bone-crunching action as Hulk escapes the Red King’s arena and battles monstrous beasts and deadly machines across Sakaar. But more than just survival is at stake—will Hulk become the savior known as the Sakaarson or fulfill his dark fate as the Worldbreaker?
“Writing Planet Hulk has been one of the true highlights of my career, and I’m so thankful to the fans who’ve embraced it,” says Greg Pak. “This anniversary story is a thank-you to them, and a chance to dive deeper into Hulk’s journey on Sakaar. Working with Carlo again truly feels like coming home.”
