Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Hasbro, are turning up the volume with G.I. JOE: Cold Slither #1, a new one-shot comic hitting shelves October 1. This raucous standalone story is brought to life by writer Tim Seeley (Local Man), artist Juann Cabal (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man), colorist Rex Lokus, and letterer Pat Brosseau.
Inspired by the infamous G.I. Joe animated band, Cold Slither is a chaotic, tongue-in-cheek look at the fictional heavy metal group (definitely not just the Dreadnoks in disguise). Told from the band’s own skewed perspective, the comic dives into their meteoric rise, mind-controlling music, and a showdown with G.I. Joe as Cobra uses rock ‘n roll to conquer the world.
Tim Seeley calls the project a decades-long obsession finally unleashed, while Juann Cabal adds a personal note: “My parents actually met at a Cold Slither gig back in the ’80s.”
