The Terror Comes Home
Previously, the films in the Alien franchise, if you don’t count the Predator crossover ones, have kept the horror out in space. The latest addition, which is also a television series, brings the iconic Xenomorphs to Earth.
The appropriately titled Alien: Earth takes place before the first film. When a space craft carrying five different species from the darkest corners of the universe crash lands on Earth, a group of hybrids that are synthetic androids with human consciousness spring into action. Unfortunately, they find more than they ever bargained for.
The two-episode series premiere of Alien: Earth airs Tuesday, August 12, on FX.
Family vs. The World
Butterfly initially began as a graphic novel from Boom! Studios. It was written by Arash Amel and Marguerite Bennet with art from Antonio Fuso and Stefano Simeone. Now, it has been adapted into a television series.
The story follows an ex-US intelligence operative named David. He left his life of espionage behind and disappeared in order to protect his family. Years later, he reappears when he learns his daughter has followed his same path. The only way for them to be truly free is to work together to take down a powerful organization.

Making Her Mark
Adult Swim has been the home of some of the most experimental and bizarre shows out there. The upcoming Women Wearing Shoulder Pads, which is created by Gonzalo Cordova, hopes to keep with the tradition.
It is a quarter hour comedy that is stop-motion animated featuring an all-female cast. The story follows Marioneta, a wealthy Spaniard living in South America who pursues both business and pleasure. The series is produced entirely in Spanish with English subtitles as well.
Women Wearing Shoulder Pads premieres Sunday, August 17, on Adult Swim.
