Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans, the bestselling creative team behind We Called Them Giants, are returning to their dark RPG-inspired world this November in Die: Loaded. The new story arc brings fans back to the British Fantasy Award-winning, three-time Hugo Award-nominated Image Comics series for another round of fantasy, horror, and heartbreak.
Launching alongside the comic will be The Die RPG Quickstart Game Guide, also by Gillen and Hans. This standalone, budget-friendly release packs in everything needed to play the Origin Award-winning Die RPG, including rules, pre-generated characters, and a multi-session scenario, perfect for newcomers looking to roll the dice without investing in the full game.

“DIE was created by us to talk about fantasy and reality, for as long as we have stories to tell,” Gillen said. “Suffice to say, we do, and DIE: Loaded shows exactly how much else we have to share, to delight, move and horrify you. Plus it’s also important for DIE that we give other people a chance to tell their stories. It’s why we wrote the RPG, and with the Quickstart, we want to let even more people in on the party.”
Set a year after the finale of Die #20, Loaded begins as the players gather for Chuck’s wake, believing they’ve left the game behind. But the game hasn’t left them. “Get ready to roll initiative,” teases the solicitation. “Who’s going to DIE this time?”
“As an artist, it is such a unique joy to come back and expand a universe in which we poured so much love,” Hans added. “Die is an ever-extending work of art and I have the privilege to shape it alongside Kieron.”

Since its debut in 2019, Die has been a sales powerhouse for Image Comics, often topping charts, selling out at the distributor level, and inspiring a wave of RPG-infused storytelling. Described by fans as “goth Jumanji,” the series has cultivated a devoted following, with buzz building again after new Die: Loaded artwork appeared on the Image Comics booth wrap at San Diego Comic-Con.
