Oni Press, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, has announced that Adventure Time: The Bubbline College Special #1 has officially sold out at the distributor level. A second printing is already on the way, featuring a brand-new cover by Evgenia Vereli (Wynd: The Power of the Blood). The reprint will hit comic shops on November 5, 2025.
The 56-page one-shot, written and illustrated by Eisner Award–winner Caroline Cash (PeePee PooPoo), imagines an alternate universe where Princess Bubblegum and Marceline navigate the ups and downs of college life together. Bubblegum, enrolled at Ooo University with a double major in chemistry and “princess,” quickly finds herself overwhelmed by classes, roommates, overzealous bodyguards, and even assassination attempts. Luckily, a mysterious flying vampire just might make her freshman year survivable—and a lot more romantic.
Cash describes the project as a dream come true:
“I’ve been a fan of the show since it came out. I remember watching it when it premiered on Cartoon Network. I think I was 14 years old? It completely shaped my comics making career as well… Since the show ended, I didn’t think I would ever have a chance to work on anything Adventure Time related, so this has been a bit of a dream come true.”
Reflecting on the fandom history, Cash added:
“I was in the Tumblr trenches fighting for my life at 15 when the ‘What Was Missing’ episode dropped and was a part of the Bubbline speculation in real time… again it is crazy to me that I have been given the opportunity to add to the canon of them being in love in every universe… favorite couple forever… an OTP, dare I say…”
Adventure Time editor Megan Brown echoed that excitement:
“For years, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline have been the Couple of All Time (yes, capitalization required). We’re so incredibly excited to explore a fun, alternate universe romp with these—dare I say—utterly iconic sapphic soulmates, created by the deft and talented hand of writer/artist Caroline Cash. This comic is unapologetically queer, and we are very excited to get to answer the age old question: ‘What would Bubblegum and Marceline be like in college…?’”
The second printing of Adventure Time: The Bubbline College Special #1 goes on sale November 5, 2025, priced at $7.99.
