Wanda Maximoff ascends as Marvel’s new Sorcerer Supreme in December 2025

Following the fall of Victor Von Doom, a new protector of Earth’s magic rises—Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch. Marvel has officially revealed that Wanda will take up the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme in a brand-new ongoing series launching this December, written by Steve Orlando (Scarlet Witch) with art by Bernard Chang (Blood Hunters).

The series sees Wanda breaking tradition and redefining what it means to be the Sorcerer Supreme. After the Vishanti refuse to recognize her claim to the title and instead crown Agatha Harkness, Wanda’s former mentor, a fiery confrontation leaves Wanda trapped in Limbo—and face-to-face with its ruler, Madelyne Pryor. To escape, she must harness her power in ways the Marvel Universe has never seen before, even as new mystical threats rise in her absence.

“It’s time for Wanda to take her destiny into her own hands,” Orlando said. “With the cloak and the eye calling out for a new wielder, there’s no one better suited than the Scarlet Witch. She’s the one who listens when no one else will—and she’s about to change the rules of magic forever.”

Artist Bernard Chang added, “We’re pouring everything into this series. Wanda’s journey is about evolution, courage, and redefining power—and I’m honored to help bring that to life.”

Sorcerer Supreme will feature main covers by Leirix, with Russell Dauterman returning to design Wanda’s new look and contribute variant covers for the first five issues, each highlighting a member of Wanda’s mystical council—including Clea, Chthon, and Wiccan. Additional variants come from Rose Besch, Mark Brooks, Devmalya Pramanik, Jenny Frison, and more.

Fans can catch a glimpse of Wanda’s transformation in One World Under Doom #9 on November 21, and preorder Sorcerer Supreme #1 now at their local comic shop before it hits shelves in December.
