Oni Press is serving up something sweet, sparkly, and full of espionage this fall. The multiple Eisner and Harvey Award–winning publisher has announced Agent Cupcake, an all-new middle-grade graphic novel that blends high-stakes spy missions with candy-colored fantasy and a dash of heart.
Launching in November 2025, Agent Cupcake comes from the Eisner-nominated creative trio known as Triple Dream Comics — Mel Hilario, Lauren Davis, and Katie Longua — the same team behind Debian Perl: Digital Detective.
Meet Miguel Mangayayam and the Mystical Beasts Bureau
Twelve-year-old Miguel Mangayayam knows everything about mystical beasts — from mermaids to dragons and hippogriffs — so when he’s recruited by the Mystical Beasts Bureau (MBB) as their first-ever human spy, it’s a dream come true.
Paired with the unicorn superspy Agent Cupcake, Miguel must use his knowledge to solve magical mysteries, infiltrate strange organizations, and uncover conspiracies hidden deep within the world of enchanted creatures. But when unicorns begin mysteriously losing their powers, Miguel and Cupcake find themselves facing a shadowy mega-corporation called HOARD, which might just be trying to steal magic itself.
