Part two of the supernatural showdown that is Spirits of Violence comes loaded with tragedy and emotional weight. I’ll be honest, when I first finished the issue, I wasn’t completely sold. But the more I sat with it, the more its echoes hit harder. There’s a dark symmetry between Spirits of Violence #1 and #2; you’ll feel moments of déjà vu, but also new layers of pain and purpose as this war turns personal for every Rider involved. Issue #1 proved that the Spirit of Violence can corrupt without boundaries, and this issue leans even harder into that theme, as nothing and no one is sacred.

Marvel
The most devastating moment hits early. Kushala tries to locate Roxanne, Johnny Blaze’s deceased wife, only to draw Corruption’s attention. What follows is brutal: her fiery phantom horse slaughtered panel-by-panel, leaving her stunned, broken, and whispering a quiet “no…” The contrast is striking as a Sorcerer Supreme and Spirit of Vengeance reduced to raw grief in seconds. It’s a moment that lingers.
The torment doesn’t stop there. Johnny Blaze knows his wife will be twisted into a corrupted weapon against him. Danny Ketch faces the same nightmare with his sister, Barbara. These women helped define their lives, and now they return as instruments of cruelty. Some beats mirror the last issue, which feeds that déjà-vu effect, but the emotional punch remains effective because it’s rooted in heavy, emotional loss.

Marvel
Thankfully, Robbie Reyes and Fantasma inject a different energy: motivation and forward drive. They’re literally fighting their way out of a supernatural prison, and their determination gives the issue a needed shift in tone. Their storyline also helps bring threads together, pushing the story toward its inevitable gathering of the Riders’ collision. It’s thrilling to see these characters interact, though it does feel like Marvel hasn’t fully grasped how monumental this gathering should be. With a legacy this rich, the moment deserves to feel bigger. The story progresses, just not as smoothly as it could, and a bit of narrative slippage keeps this ride from roaring at full throttle.
Spirits of Violence #2 is a brutal, grief-soaked chapter that digs into what Ghost Rider’s legacy truly costs, even if the pacing sputters. Still, the emotional stakes are rising, the violence is vicious, and the ghosts of the past are tightening their grip. This isn’t a clean chapter, but it is a haunting one.
