Marvel finally does the impossible: Fantastic Four crash into Planet of the Apes in a crossover 50 years in the making!

PLANET OF THE APES VS. FANTASTIC FOUR, a four-issue series by Josh Trujillo and Andrea di Vito, launches in February.

Marvel Comics is kicking off a massive new era for its Planet of the Apes line this February with a crossover fans never thought they’d see: PLANET OF THE APES VS. FANTASTIC FOUR. The four-issue event marks the first time the iconic sci-fi franchise officially collides with the Marvel Universe. The series comes from writer Josh Trujillo (What If…? Galactus) and artist Andrea Di Vito (Emma Frost: The White Queen).

Marvel’s history with Planet of the Apes goes all the way back to the classic adaptations of the original films, and recent titles—like last year’s Beware the Planet of the Apes—have expanded the mythology in bold new directions. Now, for the first time ever, Marvel’s First Family is stepping into Ape City itself. If you thought humans who could talk rattled the simian hierarchy, wait until Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben arrive.

WORLDS COLLIDE when the Fantastic Four become stranded on the apes’ world and find themselves face-to-face with Cornelius, Zira, Ursus, and Dr. Zaius. But trouble follows them: classic Marvel villains have also targeted Ape City, setting up a crossover brawl unlike anything either universe has seen.

“I grew up watching Planet of the Apes marathons on Saturday afternoons, so it’s a huge thrill to write for these iconic characters!” Trujillo said. “Having Marvel’s First Family butt heads with Cornelius, Zira, and Dr. Zaius is just too much fun… It’s a mash-up decades in the making.”

Artist Andrea di Vito added, “It sounds like a weird meeting at first, but then you realize both franchises were meant to meet sooner or later. Ending up on the Planet of the Apes is absolutely perfect for a classic FF adventure… I am honored to illustrate this ‘first official meeting.’”

Fans can check out Greg Land’s main cover, preview pages by Di Vito and Erick Arciniega, and preorder PLANET OF THE APES VS. FANTASTIC FOUR #1 at their local comic shop now.
