Award-winning writer Simon Birks (Antarctica, One More Year, The Shadow Over Innsmouth) is teaming up once again with artist Willi Roberts (Antarctica, The Dark, The Blood Below) and letterer Rob Jones (Hitomi, Skulduggery Pleasant) for a new horror project: The Thing on the Doorstep. This five-issue miniseries, adapted from H.P. Lovecraft’s classic story, is set to launch from Image Comics/Top Cow in February 2026.
The series reimagines Lovecraft’s tale as a descent into a friendship twisted by otherworldly forces. Longtime companions Daniel Upton and Edward Derby have been inseparable since childhood—right up until the moment Daniel shoots Edward inside Arkham Sanitarium. The evidence condemns him outright, but Daniel insists he’s not guilty, suggesting something far darker has taken hold. As the series unfolds, readers will witness how their relationship formed, fractured, and ultimately surrendered to the uncanny terror lurking just beyond human understanding.
