DC’s Next Level grows again with new ‘Zatanna’ and ‘Firestorm’ series for 2026

DC’s Next Level initiative just hit the gas, and with Jeff Lemire’s fiery new take on ‘Firestorm’ and Jamal Campbell’s bold reinvention of ‘Zatanna.’ April can’t get here fast enough.

DC’s Next Level initiative is picking up steam in 2026, and April is shaping up to be a major turning point. After March’s high-profile launches like Batwoman by Greg Rucka and DaNi, Deathstroke: The Terminator by Tony Fleecs and Carmine di Giandomenico, and Lobo by Skottie Young and Jorge Corona, DC is expanding the line with two bold new titles: Zatanna by Jamal Campbell and The Fury of Firestorm by Jeff Lemire and Rafael De Latorre.

As DC: All In moves into its second act, these Next Level series stand alongside major developments across DC’s main and Absolute universes, continuing the publisher’s push toward creator-driven stories that reimagine fan-favorite characters in daring new ways.

The Fury of Firestorm

First issue arrives April 1, 2026

The Nuclear Man goes Next Level with Jeff Lemire and Rafael De Latorre!

The community of Bedford, Colorado, is a sleepy small town. The people say hello to their neighbors, attend town hall meetings, and root for the local high school football team on Friday nights. But this idyllic small town is thrown upside down when the Nuclear Man arrives and starts…experimenting. Firestorm has turned buildings to sand and people to glass with no remorse and no warning. But what exactly provoked Ronnie Raymond to commit this heinous act, and can anyone contain the fury that is Firestorm?

Brought to you by the acclaimed team of Jeff Lemire (Absolute Flash, JSA) and Rafael De Latorre (The Penguin), this explosive new series ignites the next major chapter of DC’s Next Level line.

The Fury of Firestorm #1 will feature a main cover by De Latorre, with open-to-order cardstock variants by Chris Burnham and Riley Rossmo. Lemire contributes a 1:25 incentive variant, Burnham’s cover will also be available in foil, and additional variants include a DC: Next Level edition by Jorge Corona, plus a blank sketch cover.

Zatanna Zatara embarks on her greatest tour yet! As the newest—and first—Prime Magus in millennia, it is now Zatanna’s sworn responsibility to oversee and guide the world of magic. All eyes are on her.

How will she accomplish this grand task? How will she shoulder this heaviest of responsibilities? How will she confront the horrors waiting in forgotten histories? With a wink, a flourish, and a whole lot of magic!

All-star writer/artist Jamal Campbell (Superman, Zatanna: It’s Showtime) returns to DC’s mistress of magic following his acclaimed 2025 limited series, launching Zatanna into a brand-new ongoing title.

With a creative roster that includes Jeff Lemire, Greg Rucka, Jamal Campbell, Skottie Young, Mariko Tamaki, Kyle Higgins, Joshua Williamson, Tony Fleecs, Rafael De Latorre, Jorge Corona, and many others, DC is clearly positioning Next Level as one of the defining initiatives of its storytelling future.
