Dynamite Entertainment is leaning hard into pulp, power, and over-the-top action this April with Giant-Sized Savage Tales, a 40-page special packed with fierce heroines, classic pulp icons, and hard-hitting short stories that celebrate the publisher’s biggest characters.
Writer David Avallone, known for his pulpy takes on Elvira and Bettie Page, returns to his roots with four action-heavy chapters spotlighting a mix of Dynamite’s leading women and timeless pulp legends. The oversized issue brings together multiple creative teams, each delivering a distinct flavor of high-energy storytelling.
Rising talent Mariano Benitez-Chapo, a recent Kubert School graduate, tackles two of the issue’s stories, continuing the “His War” arc for Captain Gullivar Jones while also taking on the Daughter of Drakulon in the moody standout “Vampirella Noir.” Pasquale Qualano delivers a visual showcase for the She-Devil With a Sword in “Red Sonja: The Exile,” while Sebastián Píriz closes out the issue with a grin-inducing pulp finale in “The Last Allan Quatermain Story.”
The special also comes loaded with covers worthy of the occasion. Bjorn Barends pulls double duty with striking pieces featuring both Red Sonja and Vampirella, while Ivy Cosplay steps into the roles herself with solo and team-up cosplay covers. For collectors looking to go all-in, Dynamite is also offering premium mystery blind bags, each containing three randomly selected limited-edition variant covers exclusive to the release.
