Spider-Man, Hulk, and Punisher collide in Jonathan Hickman’s new Marvel event series

Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert team up to tell the grittiest Spider-Man comic story of the modern age, co-starring Punisher and Hulk, in SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME.

This summer, three of Marvel’s biggest icons race toward a violent showdown in Spider-Man: Long Way Home. The five-issue limited series from Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert throws Spider-Man, Punisher, and Hulk into a dangerous hunt for a missing Cosmic Cube. Like 2024’s Wolverine: Revenge from Hickman and Greg Capullo, the story exists outside the core Marvel Universe. That approach allows the creators to tell a bold, self-contained tale that stands on its own while delivering a sweeping adventure free from the limits of continuity.

A dark homecoming awaits

The story unfolds in a time before the Punisher’s legend took hold. The Hulk is little more than a rumor, whispered about but rarely seen. Deep in the jungles of South America, A.I.M. has succeeded in creating a Cosmic Cube. Frank Castle, Bruce Banner, and Peter Parker all arrive with the same goal: keep the Cube out of the wrong hands. Unfortunately for them, each believes the others cannot be trusted.

What follows is a three-way struggle over one of the most dangerous objects in the Marvel Universe. Alliances will shift, trust will collapse, and the pursuit of cosmic power will push each man to his limits.

“I’m so happy to be working with Adam Kubert again and even happier that we’re getting to work on SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME,” Hickman shared. “Absolutely no one is going to see this one coming.”

“Jordan [D. White] barely got the words out before I yelled “Yes!” to SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME,” Kubert said. “A five-issue Hickman saga with Spidey, Hulk, and Punisher? Total no-brainer. With Frank Martin making the mayhem pop! Just Make Mine Marvel!”
