Our latest Channel Surfing TV picks include a culinary competition and a pair of manga adaptations. Top Chef begins its 23rd season. Luffy and the Straw Hats return for a new season of One Piece. Then, the world’s greatest guardian is a chicken in Rooster Fighter

Carolina on My Mind

Top Chef has taken place in different parts of the United States and even visited Canada and Europe. In the new season a new batch of some of the country’s most talented chefs battle it out to prove who is the best.

Kristen Kish, Tom Colicchio, and Gail Simmons will be heading south to the Carolinas. Most of the show will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, but the contestants will also spend some time in Greenville, South Carolina. Dive into new challenges and learn more about the culinary traditions of the region.

Top Chef season 23 begins later today, March 9, on Bravo.

A Pirate’s Life for Me

In the television adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga series One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy and his crew the Straw Hats search for the legendary titular treasure in order for him to become the King of the Pirates. In the new season, they take one step closer to fulfilling the goal.

Season two finds our heroes setting sail for the Grand Line, a dangerous stretch of sea. This adventure has the crew visit strange islands and encounter new characters. The trailer reveals an encounter with the adorable Tony Tony Chopper, and we can’t forget the tease of a new villain in the previous season’s finale of a certain man who enjoys smoking two cigars.

Stream season two of One Piece beginning Tuesday, March 10, on Netflix.

This Rooster Ain’t Chicken

One Piece isn’t the only manga adaptation airing this week. Rooster Fighter is based off of the work by Shū Sakuratani, and centers around the protagonist Keiji. However, Keiji isn’t your conventional hero. He’s a chicken.

In this world, demons have crossed over and start wreaking havoc. The people’s only hope is the brave and formidable Keiji and his friends who defend mankind regardless of the size differential.

Rooster Fighter premieres Saturday, March 14, on Adult Swim.
