Marvel’s ‘Queen in Black’ gets new blind bag covers and bizarre Venomworld Bouncers

Marvel is leaning hard into collectibles this July with Queen in Black #1, pairing a major event launch with blind bags, display boxes, and even a strange new merch drop.

The debut issue, from Al Ewing and Iban Coello, will be available in True Believers Blind Bags, each one sealed and packed with an exclusive variant cover that cannot be ordered any other way. Standard covers will not be included, making the blind bags the only way to access certain versions, along with the chance at rare variants and even one-of-a-kind sketch covers.

Marvel has also revealed a new retailer promo tied to the event: Venomworld Bouncers. These small collectible balls are modeled after the symbiote-infested planet concept from Ewing’s run, which factors directly into the story. It is a weird, tactile extension of the event that feels designed to grab attention on the shelf.

The cover lineup adds another layer for collectors. Ryan Stegman delivers two homage covers inspired by Venom (2018) #3, with one available at retail and the other locked inside blind bags. Additional variants include a swimsuit cover by David Nakayama featuring Mary Jane Watson as Venom, and a Marvel Rivals cover from NetEase Games.

All of it feeds into the larger story, where Hela and Knull clash with Earth caught in the middle. Queen in Black #1 hits July 1, but between the blind bags and the bouncers, this launch is clearly about more than just the comic.
