A new chapter begins for Miles Morales this August as Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 launches from writer Bryan Edward Hill and artist Nico Leon, setting the stage for a more intense and personal era. The series follows Cody Ziglar’s epic run.
Back in Brooklyn after a chaotic trip to the Ultimate Universe, Miles is trying to settle into the rhythm of everyday life. He is balancing supervillains and schoolwork, while still making time for family and relationships. That fragile balance is shattered when a dangerous secret tied to his father’s past with S.H.I.E.L.D. resurfaces, putting a target on Miles and everyone he cares about.
It is not just another superhero challenge, it is a threat that strikes at the heart of Miles’ family and forces him to go further than ever before to protect his world.
“I was really humbled when Marvel contacted me because Miles Morales is such an important character to people,” said writer Bryan Edward Hill. “No one knows, but I’m a HUGE Spider-Man and Spider-Verse fan, so I’m going all out here with new villains, new allies, thrilling action and a real exploration of that essential struggle of being a hero and maintaining a life connected to others.”
Artist Nico Leon spoke to the legacy he is stepping into. “Sara Pichelli opened the door to a new generation of comic book artists with ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN, and being able to step into that lineage now is a real privilege,” Leon said. “Drawing Miles Morales in his classic suit, a design that turned iconic from the first second, is an opportunity you can bet I will not take lightly.”
