DC’s Super-Family faces Zod in massive new crossover ‘Kingdom of Zod’

DC launches huge Superman crossover and Zod is at the center in Kingdom of Zod.

DC has announced a new crossover called Kingdom of Zod, set to run through Supergirl, Action Comics, Superman Unlimited, and Superman this August and September. The story brings together writers Joshua Williamson, Sophie Campbell, Mark Waid, and Dan Slott, along with artists Eddy Barrows, Joe Quinones, Montos, and Rachael Stott, as Superman and the Super-Family face off against General Zod in a storyline that pulls together major threats from across the current era.

The crossover kicks off August 12 in Supergirl #16, where a sudden military takeover throws the Kryptonite Kingdom of El Caldero into chaos. Kara responds by forming a strike team that includes Superboy-Prime, Conner Kent, Tomorrow Man, Steel, and others, only to discover the invading force has Kryptonian roots. That same day in Action Comics #1101, Superman returns to the present following the events of issue #1100 and is quickly pulled into the growing conflict.

As the story unfolds, Zod’s return and his role in the invasion become clearer, setting up a major twist tied to Kryptonite that raises the stakes across the globe. Guillem March provides connecting covers for all four series in August, with additional variants by artists including Stephanie Hans, Ariel Olivetti, Mike Choi, ACO, Taurin Clarke, and Christian Ward, plus foil covers by Mark Spears.

The crossover continues August 19 in Superman Unlimited #16, where Zod’s plan expands, and a Kryptonite-based threat begins spreading worldwide. The first phase wraps on August 26 in Superman #41, as Superman, Supergirl, and their allies confront Zod directly.

The story carries into September with additional chapters across all four titles, culminating in Superman: Kingdom of Zod Special on September 30. The crossover brings the full Super-Family together for a large-scale battle against one of their most dangerous enemies, with the future of the House of El hanging in the balance.
