DC has announced Next Level: One Shot #1, a new 48-page special from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Fernando Blanco that puts Deadshot front and center in a mission tied to the future of the DC Next Level initiative.
The issue follows the deadly assassin as a routine job spirals out of control, pulling him into a conspiracy that stretches across the Next Level cast. Along the way, the story explores a father-daughter relationship while setting the stage for a larger conflict building in the background. The one-shot is designed to lay the groundwork for what’s coming next, with hints of a looming war that could reshape the line.
Next Level: One Shot #1 features a main cover by Blanco, with variant covers by Mark Spears, Jorge Corona, and Carmine Di Giandomenico. Additional variants include a 1:25 cover by Mario Foccillo and a foil edition by Spears.

The issue will be available August 19, 2026, priced at $5.99 for the standard edition, with card stock variants at $6.99.
The release is part of DC’s broader Next Level plans, which continue to expand under the DC All In banner. The initiative will include new series and creative directions for a wide range of characters, including Batwoman, Deathstroke, the Demon, Firestorm, Lobo, the Legion of Super-Heroes, Barbara Gordon, Deadman, Jonah Hex, Zatanna, the Teen Titans, and the Doom Patrol.
A lineup of creators attached to upcoming projects includes Jeff Lemire, Joshua Williamson, Jamal Campbell, Mariko Tamaki, Greg Rucka, Tony Fleecs, Javier Rodríguez, W. Maxwell Prince, Kyle Higgins, Joshua Williamson, and more.
DC plans to reveal additional titles, teams, and story details in the months ahead as it builds toward a major year for the Next Level line.
