This summer, DC Comics and Marvel Comics are bringing back the landmark 2003-2004 JLA/Avengers crossover by Kurt Busiek and George Pérez as a series of facsimile edition comic books. DC has now revealed a new variant cover by Alex Ross for Avengers/JLA #4, set to arrive this August.
The Ross artwork is part of a two-piece connecting image created specifically for these facsimile editions, paying tribute to George Pérez’s cover for Comics Interview Special Edition #6 from 1983. Marvel will publish the first half of JLA/Avengers #3 in July, spotlighting the Avengers, while DC will release the second half of Avengers/JLA #4, featuring the Justice League. When placed together, the covers form a full face-off between the two iconic teams.
The crossover remains one of the most ambitious collaborations between Marvel and DC. The original series reunited Busiek with his Avengers collaborator Pérez, bringing together a massive lineup of heroes from both universes. The story sees the Justice League battle threats like Terminus, while the Avengers confront Starro, with both teams traveling across worlds in a quest that determines the fate of their realities.

These new facsimile editions will recreate the original four-issue series with classic trade dress, wraparound cardstock covers, and the complete story as it was originally published in 2003 and 2004.
Fans can preorder all four issues now at their local comic shop to complete the set.
