The identity behind Marvel’s striking red-and-blue Venom suit was finally revealed earlier this year in Web of Venom #1, with fan-favorite rogue Fred Myers taking on a surprising new role. This September, the former Boomerang takes center stage in Amazing Venom, a five-issue limited series from writer Jordan Morris and artist Luke Ross.
Following his appearance in Queen in Black, Fred embraces his latest alias, Comeback, and embarks on a journey to Klyntar, the symbiote homeworld. Accompanied by his symbiote partner Passenger, Fred faces a mission far beyond anything he expected when he first bonded with the alien lifeform.
When readers last saw Fred, he was hoping to avoid the chaos surrounding Hela and Knull’s conflict on Earth. Things did not go according to plan. In the aftermath, Fred and Passenger find themselves pulled into an adventure that pushes both of them far outside their comfort zones.
According to Morris, continuing Fred’s story was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
“Boomerang has always been one of my favorite Marvel anti-heroes and sticking him with a hyperactive symbiote in Web of Venom was a bonkers amount of fun,” Morris said. “I’m so stoked that we can continue their adventure in Amazing Venom! Readers are in for a wild slurry of action, comedy and maybe even a little character growth for everyone’s favorite boomerang-hurling scumbag!”
Marvel has also revealed a lineup of covers for the debut issue, including artwork by Stefano Caselli and Luke Ross. Fans can also look forward to an Erik Larsen homage variant inspired by his classic Amazing Spider-Man #347 cover, along with a foil variant by Matteo Lolli.
