This week’s Channel Surfing TV picks include animated comedy, neo-noir mystery, and fantasy. We have a Disney+ exclusive double episode of The Simpsons. A Los Angeles detective takes on a new case in Sugar. Then, House of the Dragon returns for a third season.
A Dream Husband
Marge and Homer Simpson have been married for what seems like a long time. In those years, the relationship hasn’t always been great. In the double episode “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition,” the couple hit another snag in the road.
While the pair are out on a fun couples’ date night, Marge becomes upset when she learns her husband has left their children home alone with only a doorbell camera watching over them. She’s a little tipsy from her drinks earlier in the evening and creates three fantasies all featuring a different Homer.
Stream The Simpsons “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” beginning Wednesday, June 17, on Disney+.
The Next Case
Sugar follows a private detective in the City of Angels as he searches for missing persons. In the end, he’s able to solve his case, but the biggest shocker is the reveal about its main protagonist.
The new season has John Sugar doing what he does best which is finding missing people. He is given a new case to track down the older brother of an up-and-coming boxer. The deeper he gets, the more he finds himself in the middle of a citywide conspiracy. All the while, he also continues his search for his lost sister.
The season two premiere of Sugar releases Friday, June 19, on Apple TV+.
War Only Brings Suffering
When we last left House of the Dragon, war was about to break out throughout Westeros. Armies from the Reach, the North, the Westerlands, and the Riverlands all began to mobilize along with forces from the House of Velaryon and the Triarchy.
In the new season, war is here. Despite Rhaenyra’s attempts to limit the bloodshed, she finds her authority undermined at every step and her popularity with the people diminishing. Meanwhile, her enemies have been allowed to build their strength and lie in waiting.
House of the Dragon season three begins Sunday, June 21, on HBO.
