Symbie, one of the newest Spider-Man characters who debuted in 2024, finally has his own one-shot. The adorable little symbiote quickly became popular after his debut – he’s appeared in the Spidey and His Amazing Friends TV show and he even got his own Infinity Comic.
This issue complies issues #1-6 of the Symbie Infinity Comic, Marvel Mutts #18 and parts of Amazing Spider-Man #11, 13, 22, and 28.

Marvel
The Symbie comics are very short and cute, and if you’re familiar with It’s Jeff!, you’ll definitely like Symbie. There’s minimal dialogue, with most of it coming from Spider-Man, and the comic is very art focused. Unfortunately, there’s quite a bit of empty space on some pages since the panels have to be adopted from the vertical, scrolling format of the Infinity Comics, but I was honestly shocked by how many of the pages had very little empty space, especially with the stories “Boo Who?” “Lunch Breaker” and “Wingin’ it!”
Symbie really only has two characters that are recurring, Symbie and Spider-Man, the rest of the characters are characters who Spider-Man frequently interacts with like members of the Avengers or the Fantastic Four.
I think my favorite story is “Web Comic,” where Spider-Man leaves Symbie alone and tells him to be responsible and to not eat anything, he ends up shooting webs all over the apartment which leads to him getting entangled in webs with a bunch of the apartment decor. I really like how the dialogue in Spider-Man’s speech bubble is what Symbie hears and not what he’s actually saying, it adds to the chaos and mischief that he brings. It’s also the story where the creative team really shines, writer and artist Jacob Chabot writes and draws a very chaotic story while colorist Rachelle Rosenberg and letterer Joe Sabino really bring the scene to life.
In Symbie and Marvel Mutts #18, Symbie is just going around and creating chaos until he’s saved or he gets his way. I don’t want to compare this series or character to the It’s Jeff series too much but both series and characters have the same, mischievous and cute vibe. With Symbie already starting to appear in other mediums, I hope to see him become as popular as Jeff is, especially with kids since a lot of the Symbie content, including this issue, is very kid friendly and can be a way to introduce kids to symbiotes with a character that’s not as scary as Venom.

Marvel
The last couple of pages in this issue are bits and pieces of Amazing Spider-Man that Symbie is in. I like seeing some of the earlier appearances of Symbie and his early personality, which is very similar to what it is now. Symbie is a little more dramatic and playful rather than chaotic and mischievous and I honestly prefer this version of Symbie and I hope we get to see this side of him more rather than having another version of the It’s Jeff comic series.
It’s Symbie #1 is Marvel’s latest addition to their cute, kid-friendly lineup. Similar to the It’s Jeff series, it follows a collection of stories surrounding Symbie causing havoc and chaos wherever he goes.
