So far, besides the dead walking the Earth again, Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey has been all about location, location, location. The story starts in Annandale-on-Hudson, the upstate New York town where Jean grew up.

But weird things are going on in all kinds of places where significant events in Jean’s life occurred.

The next stop, in Phoenix Resurrection #3, is New Mexico, thanks to a hot tip from the very woman who would court the affections of Jean’s husband in her absence–Emma Frost.

In case you fell asleep during X-history class, Emma’s referring to a famous scene in Uncanny X-Men #132, part of the “Dark Phoenix Saga,”which was also partially adapted in X-Men: The Last Stand.

This isn’t the first time an X-Men writer has invoked that profound scene. Joss Whedon felt the need to pay tribute to it in Astonishing X-Men #14.

But what’s there now? No sign of Jean Grey (yet), but there is a big-ass, pink bubble.

Could this be a GIANT Phoneix egg? A dome containing more resurrected X-Men? Was Emma Frost truthful in her tip, or did she steer our heroes into a trap? We’ll only have to wait two weeks to find out!
