More X-Men return in ‘Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey’ #2

Dead X-Men ROLL CALL!

As you might imagine, there are SPOILERS ahead. You’ve been warned.

Something strange is going on in the town of Annandale-on-Hudson. As we saw in Marvel’s Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey #1, it’s where dead children revive, speak backward and toss smoldering pigeons into the air.

Annandale-on-Hudson is also the hometown of Jean Grey, so it only makes sense if she’s coming back, that’s a good place to start. But a few black-eyed kids aren’t the only ones Jean’s apparently bringing with her. Last issue, it was this dreamboat:

A certain Sean Cassidy was spotted in the town diner earlier on, too. In Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey #2, that little greasy spoon is getting crowded–but not before small talk with Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man, killed in the same story as Cyclops was, last year’s Death of X.

Someone’s in the kitchen with Thunderbird. If you don’t know when he died, maybe this story isn’t for you!

Dr. Moira MacTaggert would probably recommend a less calorific breakfast. If she hadn’t been offed by Mystique more than 15 years ago.

So what’s going on here? Are all these characters truly back? Are NONE of them coming back, and Jean’s return itself is yet another fakeout? Will the Phoenix use their memories to sustain and reestablish its favorite host? Writer Matthew Rosenberg and his army of artists are hoping you’re curious enough to come back for #3 in… Jesus, just a week?! She’s had eternity, NOW she’s suddenly in a rush.

Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey #2 is available now.
