Red Hood being security for a wedding kind of makes sense, I guess? But why would Anarky wish to disrupt a bachelorette party? Well I mean I already know since I read the issue but it’s still kinda a head scratcher. Also who are Catwoman’s friends at her party? One is Eiko who was Catwoman when Selina was a mob boss and another is Pamela aka Mouse who was once an associate of Selina, but more recently appeared as one of the members of the Runaways in Seeley’s Nightwing run. Overall I’m not too hot on this wedding prelude as the character writing is not amazingly strong, however the art work by Javier Fernandez is great as always.

Red Hood has always been the one standing slightly apart from the rest of the Bat crew. Some see him as the Robin gone bad-which is exactly the kind of thing someone like Anarky can exploit. Now Red Hood is running security at Catwoman’s bachelorette party-and if Anarky can crash it, that could be the final straw for Jason Todd!
Tell me about it!
I didn’t have high hopes for Anarky’s involvement in the preludes when I first read the announcement, and this issue really confirmed my fears. My first indication was that Anarky was aligning himself with a group who are basically incels in the fact that they chant about how “civilization began with men like me: strong, white and unashamed” as well as “remember what your genes decree, men should never debase themselves for the pleasure for women,” which is just a complete WTF statement. Then the whole reason for Anarky doing this is part of one of the worst Anarky-related plots ever where it’s all about whether he’s the Joker’s son or not, which is just awful. I will give Seeley the fact that he references Batman using Lonnie previously as part of his war on crime then turning against him when he took another turn away from the same direction as Batman.
Thankfully, as far as the artwork is concerned, Javier Fernandez is on the top of his game with this issue. He shows some fantastic motion when Jason arrives in the first group of thugs and seamlessly shows him dispatching them before getting rid of the bomb. The whole issue has some great use of both motion and storytelling through the artwork and the page of Jason disposing of the bomb would have been even more effective without any speech.
