At the conclusion of last night’s episode of Supergirl, the final”Elseworlds” episode, the long-awaited “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will come to the superheroes of the CW in Fall 2019. What does this mean for our titular heroes Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl? Is this the moment where Barry Allen sacrifices himself to save the multiverse, leading to his daughter Nora’s time travelling shenanigans? Will the DCTV universe combine, putting Supergirl, the Legends of Tomorrow, Team Flash, Team Arrow, and Black Lighting together?
With the introduction of Batwoman, Gotham City, Arkham Asylum, and the mythos of Bruce Wayne/Batman to the Arrowverse, this week’s annual crossover (thanks for the meta, Kara) threw a lot at viewers. The announcement at the conclusion of Supergirl, however, will be the biggest point of conversation for the rest of this season and beyond. Long-time DC readers may remember that the Monitor, as revealed in this final episode, is not really a villain, but his counter-part, the Anti-Monitor, certainly is. Is the Anti-Monitor the one the Monitor warned the heroes about? We also learned that Superman and Lois Lane are having a baby, but have chosen to move to Argos City for the foreseeable future. Will the Man of Steel return for the Crisis? We already know that Barry and Kara are willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Oliver gave something up to save them, keeping the balance of the universe. What could that be? Only time will tell, but the Crisis is finally coming. Let the rampant internet speculation begin!
