Robert Kirkman’s upcoming animated series on Amazon Video, Invincible, just got absolutely loaded with star power in the voice acting department. The series is based off Kirkman’s incredibly popular long running comic book series of the same name and is his first animated series.
A report out of THR tells us that a pile of huge names have just joined the series as voice actors. Steven Yeun, well known for his role as Glenn Rhee on AMC’s The Walking Dead, will lead the cast in the role of Invincible. J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Gillian Jacobs (Love), Seth Rogen (also attached to the feature film adaptation of Invincible), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), and Mark Hamill (Star Wars), will round out the rest of the main cast.
Also lending their voices to the project in varying capacities are Walton Goggins (Justified), Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Mae Whitman (Good Girls), Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley), Melise (The Flash), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Simpsons), Grey Griffin (Avengers Assemble) and Max Burkholder (Parenthood).
The series follows Mark Grayson aka Invincible, as he discovers that his father is Omni-Man, one of the most powerful superheroes on the planet and an extraterrestrial being from the Viltrumite race. Mark inherits his father’s superhuman strength, speed, near-invulnerability, and the ability to fly.
There will be eight hourlong episodes produced by Kirkman’s company Skybound Entertainment, with Kirkman, David Alpert (The Walking Dead), and Catherine Winder (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) executive producing. Simon Racioppa (Teen Titans) is set as series showrunner.
Invincible will premiere in 2020 on Amazon Video.
