Spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned.
Jason Aaron and Russel Dauterman have been building towards War of the Realms for some time now. It’s the war of wars that involves all 10 realms in the universe. Thor is on one side leading the heroes (or so we might think) and Malekith the Accursed is on the other. The first issue of the main event is out this week and it is filled with monsters, fight scenes, and great heroic moments. It all really starts to get go down, however, because of a meal.
In a scene two thirds of the way through the book, Loki has come face to face with his father. His mother is by his side.
He stands in his father’s way from taking over Midgard, aka Earth.
It appears Loki is egging his father on. To do what isn’t clear until…
That looks painful. Yep, Loki was eaten by his father. What a way to go, although some might argue it’s fitting given how much of a jerk Loki was in his life.
Just to confirm things, the superheroes looking on react with about as much shock as us.
When it comes to superhero events this might go down as the most epic meal to kick things off ever.
