Mitch Gerads wins best penciller/inker Eisner award

Gerads wins alongside Tom King for their work on Mister Miracle

Mitch Gerads, artist on DC’s Mister Miracle, Heroes in Crisis, and numerous Batman issues alongside writer Tom King has won the Eisner Award for Best Penciller/Inker at this year’s ceremony, hosted at San Diego Comic Con 2019. Gerads was nominated alongside Matias Bergara, Karl Kerschl, Sonny Liew, Sean Phillips, and Yanick Paquette. He is also nominated for the Best Limited Series award alongside King, who won the Best Writer award earlier in the evening, for their work on Mister Miracle.

Gerads also won in the same category at last year’s event for Mister Miracle and the series is the most nominated at this year’s event with nods for: Best Limited Series, Best Writer, Best Penciller/Inker, and Best Cover Artist (Nick Derington).

With more wins expected for the series tonight as well as throughout comics awards season, it’s safe to say that much like Darkseid, “Award is.”
