Directed by David Fincher, Mank details the battles that Herman Mankiewicz had with director Orson Welles over screenwriting credit for the iconic movie. With a cast that includes Gary Oldman in the title role, Mank may be another critical hit for the streaming giant.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things

I’m Thinking of Ending Things is a 2016 novel about a woman who goes on a trip with her boyfriend. What seems like a simple trip to visit his parents turns into something much more terrifying. Directed by Charlie Kaufman (writer for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) the horror movie also stars Jesse Plemons and Toni Collette.

The Last Thing He Wanted

Another adaptation that includes an all star cast. Anne Hathaway, Willem Dafoe, and Ben Affleck are all part of the impressive cast. The political thriller sees Hathaway plays a Washington D.C journalist who becomes the subject of the story she is covering. The movie is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

The Platform

A science fiction dystopia story that examines the class divide and human nature in an interesting way. Prisoners in a mysterious structure are fed by a platform that starts from the top and works its way down. Each lower level eats the leftovers of those above. The story is more scary for its realistic depiction of humanity than its fantastic setting.

Director Ben Wheatley has a lot to live up to. Not only did Orson Welles turn the book into a radio play, Alfred Hitchcock originally adapted the Daphne du Maurier Gothic novel in 1940. The film went on to become the only film in the director’s legendary resume to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The movie stars Lily James and Armie Hammer.
