After multiple delays, The New Mutants is now set for release April 3rd, 2020. It’s been a long time since the teaser trailer was released and now, we finally have a new look at the film.
It definitely brings us a new, refreshing spin on Mutants, being the first to bring Marvel’s merriest into the world of horror. I think it’s also the first time the mystical has been explored with Marvel’s Mutants, towards the end showing Illyana Rasputin/Magik (Anna Taylor-Joy) rushing towards a clump of shadows, glowing blue sword in hand.
The trailer implies the facility the teens are being held doesn’t operate on a ‘free-to-leave’ policy, something Illyana seems to already understand. At 0:45, we see Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane (Maisie Williams) walking through an empty church, before she begins to transform…
At 1:00, Illyana reveals a very chilling past, and doesn’t seem to feel very guilty about it. From the latest trailer, I definitely get the impression Rasputin’s either going to be the breakout character, or the main one the film follows. It definitely looks intriguing and I hope helps add something new and refreshing to the X-universe.
