Brian Cage reportedly signs multi-year deal with AEW

Cage’s wife, Melissa Santos, disputes the report.

Former Impact Wrestling World Champion Brian Cage has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with All Elite Wrestling, according to a report from SoCal Uncensored which states multiple sources have confirmed the signing.

The report goes on to say that Cage received multiple offers on becoming a free-agent, from Impact, AEW, and RoH, with RoH offering the highest dollar amount. It seems Cage decided to go with AEW due to the company’s ability to offer him the highest exposure with their consistently high viewer count for their weekly live show, Dynamite, on the TNT network.

A former Impact World Champion and Lucha Underground Gift of the God Champion, Cage is seen by many as one of the top free agents in wrestling. With the market being more crowded than ever with WWE, AEW, Impact, RoH, and NJPW, talent have more power than perhaps ever before when negotiating contracts.

SoCal Uncensored reports that they confirmed Cage’s signing with multiple sources, but apparently not his wife, Melissa Santos. Mrs. Brian Cage took to Twitter late Sunday night to dispute the report.

On April 28, 2019, Cage defeated Johnny Impact to win the Impact World Heavyweight Championship. His championship reign lasted 180 days before losing to Sami Callihan on October 25, 2019.

The former Impact World Champion and Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Champion went to a no-contest with Rob Van Dam Sunday night at Impact’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view.

At this time Brian Cage has not commented on the reports of his signing with AEW.
