According to a report from Variety by Alex Stedman and Dave McNary, Sony Pictures is postponing almost its entire 2020 movie slate this year due to productions delays caused by COVID-19.
One of the few exceptions is Kevin Hart’s Fatherhood, which has actually been moved up from January 15, 2021 to October 23, 2020. This is presumably to help Sony keep its presence in theaters once things finally start to reopen. Other movies retaining their original 2020 release dates include Monster Hunter on September 4 and Venom 2 on October 2 (THANK GOODNESS).
Otherwise, we will be waiting until next year to see a lot of highly anticipated films. Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been moved from July 10 to March 5, 2021. Morbius has been moved from July 31 to March 19, 2021.
The delay will also affect production for at least two 2021 releases: An adaption of the video game Uncharted and an untitled Marvel/Sony collaboration.
