In a press release earlier this week, TidalWave Productions announced they would be releasing a comic this summer based on the popular Netflix documentary Tiger King entitled Infamous: Tiger King.
The 22-page one-shot will be written by Michael Frizell and drawn by Joe Paradise. Paradise will be doing the main cover along with a variant by Jesse Johnson. It will also feature a statement by PETA about the harmful nature of roadside zoos like the ones operated by Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.

Unbeknownst to me, TidalWave’s Infamous series of biographical comics has previously featured Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan. It’s odd to think we live in a world where a comic about two roadside zoo operators would be more interesting (and scandalous) than those two, but that’s definitely the case.
There are plenty of quotes from the creative and production teams in the linked press releases, but my favorite comes from artist Joe Paradise, who states:
“I worked at an animal hospital for a while and found out that pet people can be a little bit eccentric. I just remember starting to watch the show saying to myself, ‘Yeah, that tracks.’ We all have Joes and Caroles in our lives, and it’s always interesting to me to learn how these extreme characters got to be where they wound up.”
Infamous: Tiger King is set to be available in digital and print formats this June.
