Marvel Comics to honor Chadwick Boseman with comic cover banner

Check out Marvel’s upcoming Chadwick Boseman tribute covers.

Less than a month ago, we lost Chadwick Boseman to cancer. It was sudden and rocked the world as no one besides his close friends and family knew he was sick. Since then, there have been tributes and an outpouring from fans and Boseman’s collaborators that have shown just how important he was in their lives.

To honor the late actor, Marvel Comics is adding a banner to the cover of their comics starting next week emblazoned with Black Panther icons and patterns.

The tribute banner reads, “Rest In Power Chadwick Boseman: 1976 – 2020”

Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman has played Black icons such as Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall, and James Brown to widespread acclaim. His performances were heartfelt, impactful, and incredibly important.

His role as Black Panther catapulted his career in 2018. His most recent film, Da 5 Bloods, released in cinemas on June 12, 2020, directed by Spike Lee. Boseman’s final film appearance will be Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom which was filmed in the summer of 2019.

Marvel Comics paid tribute to Stan Lee in a similar way when he passed away in 2018. Marvel placed a banner on the cover of their comics for titles released between December 19, 2018, to January 9, 2019.
